Dhurandhar is a 2025 Indian Hindi-language spy action thriller film written and directed by Aditya Dhar. The film is produced by Aditya Dhar, Jyoti Deshpande, and Lokesh Dhar under Jio Studios and B62 Studios.
The movie features Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, and Sara Arjun in key roles. The story follows a fearless RAW agent caught amidst secret missions, political conspiracies, and national security operations.
Principal photography began in July 2024 across Bangkok, Amritsar, Mumbai, Ladakh, and other locations. Vikash Nowlakha handled cinematography, while the music is composed by Shashwat Sachdev.
Plot
[edit | edit source]The film revolves around two major real-life events:
- The IC-814 hijacking (1999)
- The Indian Parliament attack (2001)
The story follows Ajay Sanyal, the Director of India's Intelligence Bureau, who devises a secret operation to infiltrate Pakistan and dismantle a dangerous terrorist organization.
To execute this mission, Sanyal recruits a 20-year-old prisoner from Punjab who had been jailed for revenge. Impressed by the young man's potential, Sanyal trains him to become an undercover agent capable of operating inside Karachi’s criminal underworld.

Production

[edit | edit source]Ranveer Singh officially announced the film in July 2024. The title was revealed in December 2024. The plot reportedly draws inspiration from real intelligence operations and geopolitical events. Journalist Aditya Raj Kaul contributed to research for the film.
Filming
[edit | edit source]Filming began in Bangkok in July 2024. Later schedules took place in Amritsar, Mumbai Filmistan Studios, Madh Island, Ladakh, and recreated Pakistan sets in Thailand.
A dance sequence was filmed in Mumbai in July 2025. Filming wrapped in October 2025 when Ranveer Singh completed his portions.
Casting
[edit | edit source]Sanjay Dutt and R. Madhavan joined the film in July 2024. Arjun Rampal and Akshaye Khanna joined the cast later. Sara Arjun was chosen as the female lead. R. Madhavan plays National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, while Ranveer Singh portrays a RAW agent.
Soundtrack
[edit | edit source]The music is composed by Shashwat Sachdev with additional contributions by Charanjit Ahuja. The soundtrack mixes Punjabi folk, rap, and intense orchestral elements.

Marketing
[edit | edit source]On July 6, 2025, Ranveer Singh’s birthday, the teaser and first look poster were unveiled. The teaser features vocals by Jasmine Sandlas and rap elements by Hanumankind.
